She would like to add beds to residential treatment facilities.

Feuer, also a Democrat, agrees with Bass that the biggest problem is lack of resources, not bureaucratic inertia. Both candidates back the creation of a Trieste model, a mental health system named after the northern Italian city where it was pioneered in the early 1960s. The program focused on integrating people with mental illness into the community and providing them with extensive support services, rather than hospitalizing them.

Today, the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health is in the final stages of setting up a Trieste-style pilot program in Hollywood. ÂThere is a roadmap for the future, and these problems can be fixed,â Feuer said. However, its limited ability to trigger a strong and long-lasting immune response has represented a major roadblock in its clinical development.Researchers from the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at the National University of Singapore and Monash University in Melbourne have published a paper in the latest issue of Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America where they successfully leveraged on a novel treatment platform to deliver M2e to immune cells. This allowed them to prove that a single shot immunisation containing M2e was able to trigger long-lasting immune responses that could protect effectively against multiple strains of the flu.The team was also able to demonstrate that this vaccination approach significantly enhanced protective immune responses in the context of pre-existing flu immunity. This scenario is particularly relevant in adult and elderly populations, where individuals have been exposed to flu zithromaxes multiple times in the past and have low levels of M2e-specific antibodies in their blood circulation.This treatment approach has the potential to minimise the amount of M2e treatment antigen (substance that triggers the body's immune response against that itself) and the number of injections required for effective and long-lasting protection.

With a cheap retrofit, they could also be used in many standard lighting fixtures, giving them a "unique appeal" for public spaces, says Christina Guzzo, senior author of the study."We're at a critical time where we need to use every single possible stop to get us out of this zithromax," says Guzzo, an assistant professor in the department of biological sciences. "Every mitigation strategy that can be easily implemented should be used."UV lights kill zithromaxes through radiation. Guzzo, alongside PhD students Arvin T. Persaud and Jonathan Burnie, first tested the lights on bacterial spores notorious for their resistance to this radiation (known as Bacillus pumilus spores)."If you're able to kill these spores, then you can reasonably say you should be able to kill most other zithromaxes that you would commonly encounter in the environment," says Guzzo, principal investigator at the Guzzo Lab.Within 20 seconds of UV exposure, the spores' growth dropped by 99 per cent.

That's why Guzzo says the lights should be used when public spaces are empty, such as vacated buses that have finished their routes, or empty elevators travelling between floors.
